Description	:	HASTINGS — Alice Dolores “Dee” Galitz, 86, of Hastings passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at home. A Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Hastings, with Pastor Greg Lindenberger officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Sunrise Cemetery north of St. Paul. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of the arrangements. Dolores was born to George and Alice (Pedersen) Jacobson on Sept. 11, 1930, at home on a farm in the Fairdale Community located in Howard County. She was very active in school activities such as cheerleading, Girls State and state chorus clinics. Dolores graduated in 1947 from high school and was valedictorian of her class. After graduation, Dolores attended a business school in Lincoln and worked at the State Capitol as secretary for the Department of Roads and Irrigation. She returned to Wolbach in 1948 to work at the People’s State Bank in Wolbach until 1954. Dolores worked as a church secretary from 1963 to 1970. She then worked as a bookkeeper for the Hastings Tribune until 1979. On April 4, 1949, Dolores and Herb were married at the Wolbach Methodist Church and they had three children, Deborah Jo, Alan Kirk, and Brian Jay. Dolores sang in the choir in Wolbach, Alliance, Red Cloud and Hastings. She belonged to WSCS, Outlook Book Club, and P.E.O. Playing golf, traveling, fishing, cards and spending time with family were many of her favorite activities. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Herbert Galitz of Hastings; children, Deb (Terry) Devries of Kalispell, Mont., Alan (Pat) of Lincoln and Brian (Cathleen) of Riverton, Wyo.; a brother, Eugene (Wilma) Jacobson of Grand Island; a sister, Georgia Schrum of Stockton, Calif.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
