Born Aug. 31, 1924, she was a native of the Prestonville community of Stokes County, which lies between Sandy Ridge and Madison. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Bryant and Maude Gann Vernon. A graduate of Sandy Ridge High School, class of '42, she was the captain of the cheerleading squad and active in the drama department. Born Aug. 31, 1924, she was a native of the Prestonville community of Stokes County, which lies between Sandy Ridge and Madison. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Bryant and Maude Gann Vernon. A graduate of Sandy Ridge High School, class of '42, she was the captain of the cheerleading squad and active in the drama department. She was offered a drama scholarship to High Point College but married Curtis "Curt" Ray Robertson instead. Their first child, Linda, was born and died suddenly. They had a son, Vernon Ray, born in September 1944. Daughter Wanda was born in 1946 and sadly lived only three days. Alice, Curt and Vernon lived in the Koeloh community near Martinsville, Va., in the late 40s and moved to Mayodan after just three years. They lived in Mayodan until moving to Kernersville in 1954, after Curt was transferred on his job. Curt died in 1957 from cancer complications. Alice married a widower, Charles "Charlie" Harper Wilson, who was a local native and an aviator, in 1959. They had a son, Jeffrey Alan Wilson, born in April 1960. Charlie died in 1991. "Miss Alice" had recently celebrated 50 years of living in Kernersville and her 80th birthday in August 2005. She celebrated with a big party given by her son, Jeff. She
