Read More	Obituary April 10, 1930 Fontanelle Observer Alice Gertrude Aaronson was born in Adair county, Iowa, on June 29, 1884, and died April 7, 1930, at the age of 45 years, 9 months and 8 days. She was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Aaronson. Her early childhood was spent on the farm with her parents in Summit township and there she received her education in the rural schools. At the age of fifteen she attended the Friends' academy at Earlham. There a group of her special girl friends formed a club called the Round Robins. The members have kept up a correspondence during the intervening years and each year they hold a reunion in the month of June. Mrs. Raper always enjoyed these reunions greatly and made it a point to attend each one if possible. In 1899 she was converted, uniting with the Friends' church and has always remained a member. After attending school at Earlham she attended the Casey Normal Training School. She was a girl of loving disposition and made friends wherever she went. On May 24th, 1905, she was united in marriage to Bernard S. Raper. They settled on a farm one mile south and one-fourth mile west of Canby. Later they moved to the farm home owned by Bernard's parents. To this union were born three children: Noel G., Naomi H. and Norwin (sic) B. In 1915 Mr. and Mrs. Raper left the farm in charge of his parents and enjoyed a long planned trip to the world's exposition at San Francisco. It was a wonderful trip to them and on the way home they spent several days at the home of her sister Anna in Colorado. Last summer, during July, Mrs. Raper and son Norwin (sic) spent a month in western Colorado with the family of her sister. In the fall of 1915 Mr. and Mrs. Raper moved to Carlisle, where for three years he served as pastor of the Friends' church. In church activities, as well as in the home, she shared his burdens, enjoying her work as teacher in the Sunday school, organizing an aid society, which has since remained a strong factor in support of the church. Since her return to Canby she has been active in the work of the aid society and has served at its efficient president for the past few years. Mrs. Raper enjoyed her work with others and maintained an interest in community welfare. She cherished her home and its duties and found her greatest enjoyment in doing what would add to its beauty. An ardent lover of flowers, she was always glad to share them with her friends. She was also much concerned about the education of her children, in which she did much to help them prepare for their life's work. On Sunday, April 6, with her family, her brother and her sister's family, she spent the day with her parents in honor of her mother's birthday. The memory of this happy day will ever enrich the lives of those who remain to cherish the memory of a devoted daughter and loving mother. She is survived by her parents, her husband and three children; Noel, of Greenfield; Mrs. Naomi Alloway, Creston; and Norwin (sic), at home; one little granddaughter, Phyllis Joan Raper; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Beezley, Paonia, Colorado; Mrs. Hesper Mapes, Earlham; one brother, Allan Aaronson, Earlham; also two nephews and three nieces, and a wide circle of friends.
