Description	:	Alice Henrietta Hovenburg was born April 10, 1869, at Dixon, IL, the daughter of John A. and Mary (Ackert) Hovenburg, and passed away on Sunday morning, September 11, 1955, at 7:30 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. J.M. Baily. In early life she moved with her parents to Buena Vista County, IA, in 1876. On June 25, 1891, she was united in marriage to Alvin C. Farr. They made their home in Cherokee County, IA, until March 1, 1910, when they moved to a farm one mile north of Parker, SD. ... Read More	Alice Henrietta Hovenburg was born April 10, 1869, at Dixon, IL, the daughter of John A. and Mary (Ackert) Hovenburg, and passed away on Sunday morning, September 11, 1955, at 7:30 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. J.M. Baily. In early life she moved with her parents to Buena Vista County, IA, in 1876. On June 25, 1891, she was united in marriage to Alvin C. Farr. They made their home in Cherokee County, IA, until March 1, 1910, when they moved to a farm one mile north of Parker, SD. To this union were born three children: Grace (Mrs. Floyd Scott), Myrtle (Mrs. Jay Baily), and Ernest, all of Parker. Mrs. Farr leaves, besides her family and many friends, two brothers, Burt C. Hovenburg of Alta, IA, Clint E. Hovenburg of Waterloo, IA; seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. In early life, Mrs. Farr joined the First Christian Church, and on May 4, 1913, she took up membership in the First Baptist Church of Parker, where she remained a faithful worker. To know Mrs. Farr, was to love her. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 13, at 2:00 o'clock at the First Baptist Church in Parker, with the Rev. Rex R. Bear, pastor of the church, officiating. Mrs. William Eichel and Mrs. Melvin Hagen sang, accompanied by Lois Willadsen, at the piano. Pallbearers were Louis and Aaron Beier, Ralph Crawford, Archie Clikeman, Cornelius Kunkel, and Fred Wendt. Those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Dyslin, Miss Mable Cockburn, Miss Anna Cockburn, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sturgeon, all of Cherokee, Iowa; Mrs. Farr's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Burton Hovenburg of Alta, IA.
