Farr, an esteemed resident of this vicinity for many years, who died last week at the age of 71 years, were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Scott on Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Farr have made their home on the farm of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Scott, since they returned here last spring, after spending the winter months in Mountain Home, AR. R.V. Wildin, pastor of the Parker Baptist Church, preached the funeral sermon at the Scott home. Musical selections were sung by John and Marie Walker, with accompaniments played by Mrs. Andrew Bogue. Pall bearers were George Pearson, Ralph Crawford, Dick Stout, Cornelius Kunkle, Peter Beier and John Murray. Interment was in Rosehill Cemetery near Parker. Alvin C. Farr was born at Fairmont, MN, February 1, 1868, to James Curtis and Catherine A. (Stone) Farr, and passed away July 20, 1939, at 10:20 P.M., after a lingering illness. In early life he moved with his parents to Diamond Center Township, Cherokee County, IA, where he lived for many years. On June 25, 1891, he was united in marriage to Alice H. Hovenburg. Three children were born to this union, Grace (Mrs. Floyd Scott), Ernest, and Myrtle (Mrs. Jay Baily) all of Parker. Mr. Farr joined the Christian Church and was baptized in 1891. Besides his wife and children, Mr. Farr leaves to mourn his passing seven grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. L.H. Dyslin of Aurelia, IA, Mrs. Morris Dyslin of Tacoma, WA, and Miss Mabel Farr of St. Paul, MN, and one brother, Tom Farr, of Tracy, MN, and a host of other relatives and friends who will always remember him as a very devoted husband and father, and a true friend. Mr. Farr moved with his family to Parker in 1910, where he has resided since, with the exception of the last two winters which he has spent at Mountain Home, AR. Mr. Farr was a good neighbor, always doing something for other people, and to know him was to love and respect him. His going will sadden the entire community.
