She passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 1993, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 89 years and 27 days. She remembered her first teacher at District 14 rode a bicycle... Read More	LOVEGROVE, ALICE MAE—Alice Mae Lovegrove was born on February 25, 1904. She passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 1993, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 89 years and 27 days. She was the youngest daughter of eight children born to Willard Charles and Leora Ellen Tibbals Ainsworth. Alice was raised on a farm northwest of Geneva, after moving here from Creston, Ia., in 1910. She started to school in Creston, Ia., and then attended District 14 in Fillmore county. She remembered her first teacher at District 14 rode a bicycle the nine miles from Geneva every day to teach. She attended Geneva High School for two years, until her mother became ill and she was needed at home. On March 1, 1925, Alice and George E. Lovegrove were married in Belleville, Ks. They moved into a new home on his father’s farm. Their entire married life together was spent on this same farm. Along with their farming operations, she went with their harvesting crew from Texas to Canada, helping and cooking for them. After George passed away in 1957, Alice built a home in Geneva and was able to live in it alone until March 1, 1993. She enjoyed her yard and garden. Alice was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, being involved in the circles. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life centered around her family. She spent many hours knitting for all of them. Preceding her in death were her parents, Willard C. Ainsworth and Leora E. Tibbals Ainsworth; husband, George E. Lovegrove; son, Dale E. Lovegrove; brothers, Ray, Paul Williard, Edwin and Merrill Ainsworth; and sister, Minna Brower. Survivors include daughter, Lila and husband, Robert Bettger; son, Robert D. Lovegrove and wife Shirley; daughter Marjorie and husband Keith Burt, and daughter-in-law, Jean Lovegrove; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Otis; sisters-in-law, Wilma Ainsworth and Margaret Ainsworth. Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist Church in Geneva on Saturday, March 27, with the Rev. Stan Rider officiating. Mrs. Judy Ackland accompanied Kelly Eich who sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “Nearer My God to Thee.” Those serving as casket bearers were grandsons, Robert E., William D. and Paul F. Bettger, Thomas D, James R., John E. and Robert G. Lovegrove and John K. Burt. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal April 7th, 1993 page 7.
