He died September 3, 1974, at the Fillmore County hospital at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 3 days. He is survived by his wife Pearl, daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Claiton Lauber and Ellen and Robert Ewalt’ brothers Willard, Edwin and Merrill; sisters, Lois Otis, Minna Brower and Alice Lovegrove; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Read More	AINSWORTH, RAY TIBBALS — Ray Tibbals Ainsworth was born January 30, 1900, to Willard and Leora Ainsworth on a farm near Albia, Ia. He died September 3, 1974, at the Fillmore County hospital at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 3 days. He is survived by his wife Pearl, daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Claiton Lauber and Ellen and Robert Ewalt’ brothers Willard, Edwin and Merrill; sisters, Lois Otis, Minna Brower and Alice Lovegrove; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Paul, and an infant son. At the age of three, Ray’s father moved the family to Anadaka, Okla., to homestead. Many hardships were endured during the ten months the family remained there. During this time, Ray was kidnapped by Indians who were fascinated by his reddish hair, and it was several days before his parents located and recovered him. The family returned to a farm near Creston, Ia., where they stayed until 1910. In that year they moved to a farm in the Geneva township of Fillmore county. Ray completed his elementary education at District 14 and entered Geneva high school in 1916. After completing his freshman year, he was forced to quit school and go to work on the farm helping his father to support a large family as he was the oldest son. Later, he attended winter classes at the Nebraska College of Agriculture. Ray and Pearl Lovegrove were married on March 7, 1923, at York, neb. The next 28 years of his life were spent farming in Geneva township. Ray was a serious-minded and hardworking farmer, always interested in new farming practices. In 1950, Ray decided to retire, and in the spring of 1951, they moved to a new home in Geneva. The last 24 years of Ray’s life were filled with the hobbies he loved, hunting, fishing, golf and travelling to visit their many friends and relatives. Since 1955, Ray and Pearl spent their winters in the Rio Grande Valley area of Texas. In the spring of 1973, Ray and Pearl celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Ray was active in many social areas, being a member of the Elks and the Odd Fellow lodges, and square dance organizations. With the youthful influence in a religious home, he has been a lifelong member of the Methodist church. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 1974, at the Geneva United Methodist church by Rev. John E. Stayton. Mrs. Kenneth Prater sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “Nearer My God to Thee”, accompanied by Mrs. Norval Lomax. Pallbearers were John Brooke, Don R. Miller, William Hofferber, Cecil Richards, Robert Nichols and Bernard Weiss. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. (Source: The Nebraska Signal, 12 September 1974)
