OBITUARY- MRS.JOHN SCHMIT Mrs. John Alice Mae Halsey Schmit was born June 16, 1914 to William and Avis Trent Halsey at Meadow Grove, Nebraska. She received her schooling at Armour and Barada, Nebr., and later moved to Falls City. She met John Schmidt and married him at Auburn, Nebr., November 23, 1935. Table Rock Argus, Sept. 29, 1977. OBITUARY- MRS.JOHN SCHMIT Mrs. John Alice Mae Halsey Schmit was born June 16, 1914 to William and Avis Trent Halsey at Meadow Grove, Nebraska. She received her schooling at Armour and Barada, Nebr., and later moved to Falls City. She met John Schmidt and married him at Auburn, Nebr., November 23, 1935. They lived in the Cold Point and Steinauer vicinity until he passed away September 12, 1969. Alice continued to live in Steinauer until her death on September 20 at the Johnson County Hospital at Tecumseh, Nebr. She had been in failing health for five months. Mrs. Schmit was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and St. Ann's Altar Society. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a wonderful neighbor and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John; two brothers, Ben Halsey and Ronald Bonham; two sisters, Nellie Anderson and Hazel Rae. Surviving are three sons, John Byford Schmit and Donald Lynn Schmit of Steinauer, and Gail Anthony Schmit of Beatrice; one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Delores) Puhalla; one son-in-law, Michael Puhalla; three daughters-in=law, Gloria, Kathy and patty; five grandchildren,Debrah, Timothy and Laura Puhalla and Wendelin and Mathew Schmit; one sister, Mrs. Harvey (Ruth) Zoller, Harrisburg, Ore.;one brother, Harold Halsey of Halsey, ore.; one half sister, Mrs. John (Ida) Burlington of Salem, Ore.; two half brothers, Jack Bonham of Salem, Ore., and Raymond Bonham of Medford, Ore. Rosary services were held in St. Anthony's Church September 23 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services were held with a 10 a.m. Mass Saturday, September 24, 1977 at St. Anthony's Church with Father Harold Birkel officiating. Pallbearers were Melvin Reed, Paul Schmit, Norbert Puhalla, Gerald Oehm, David Burger and James Thomas. Burial services were in the church cemetery. Long life to her for there's no other, Can take the place of our dear mother. God made many things Sunsets and flowers and trees, Birds and starlight and loyal friends, And after he made all of these He gave another gift more rare More loving and more true, A wonderful person most fair, A mother dear as you.
