Description	:	Alice Marie Mohn Brenden was born on Jan. 5, 1922, in Rock Dell, Minn., to Ellen and Thomas Mohn. Alice was the youngest of four and the only girl. Alice passed away at Unity Square, St. John's Lutheran Ministries, on Jan. 13, 2014. In 1925, the Mohns left Minnesota by horse and buggy, traveling to Bengough, Saskatchewan, Canada, when Alice was 3 years old, where they lived until Alice was 12 years old. Read More	Alice Marie Mohn Brenden was born on Jan. 5, 1922, in Rock Dell, Minn., to Ellen and Thomas Mohn. Alice was the youngest of four and the only girl. Alice passed away at Unity Square, St. John's Lutheran Ministries, on Jan. 13, 2014. In 1925, the Mohns left Minnesota by horse and buggy, traveling to Bengough, Saskatchewan, Canada, when Alice was 3 years old, where they lived until Alice was 12 years old. The family moved to Flaxville in 1934. Alice attended country school through the eighth grade and then attended high school in Scobey, where she graduated in 1939 as the salutatorian of her class. She then went on to college at Eastern Montana College. Alice married Loyal Brenden in 1940, a marriage of 67 years. They farmed near Flaxville, where they raised three children and, for many years, wintered in Arizona. In the early 1960s, Loyal started a music business selling pianos and organs. Alice worked right alongside him, tending to all the book work and enjoying all the customers. In 1977, Alice and Loyal bought a home in Billings, where they spent their winters. While raising a family, Alice was a very supportive, loving and wise mother and wife. She was very active in church work at Zion Lutheran while teaching Sunday school, serving as a leader in the Women's Church Circle, being a devout student of the Bible and a member of the quilting group. Each day, Alice looked forward to reading the daily newspaper and working the crossword puzzle. Each week, she looked forward to reading the Daniels County Leader. The family will miss her wealth of information regarding family history and Northeastern Montana history. Home-baked cookies were a staple at her house. When unexpected company would arrive, she had the uncanny capability of throwing together a meal. After her husband died in 2008, Alice moved to Mission Ridge, where she enjoyed living until this past summer, when her health declined. Alice was preceded in death by her husband; mother and father; two brothers, Don and Bernie; and one son-in-law, Lowell Gorseth. She leaves behind a son, Gary (Connie) Brenden of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Lois Gorseth, of Billings; and a daughter, Carol (Bill) Nadlonek of Rochester Hills, Mich.; a brother, Ferris Mohn, of Billings; a sister-in-law, Mary Mohn, of Scobey; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many "favorite" nieces and nephews! Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at the chapel in Mission Ridge at St. John's Lutheran Ministries, 3840 Rimrock Road, with refreshments following. Burial of the cremated remains will take place this summer in the Orville Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Zion Lutheran Church in Flaxville, Daniels County Memorial Hospital or the charity of your choice. Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary is assisting with the arrangements.
