Description	:	Alice R. Diischer, 75, of Rolfe, formerly of Alta, died on Sunday, April 13. Services were held on Thursday, April 17, at the First Presbyterian Church of Ala with Rev. Craig Lee officiating. Entombment was in the Elk Township Cemetery of Alta. Visitation was held at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta, and an Order of Eastern Star service was held at the funeral home. Alice Ruth (Haight) Diischer was born on November 19, 1932 in Elk Township, Buena Vista Count, Iowa, to Howard and Elsie (Corrington) Haight. She graduated from Aurelia High School and attended Buena Vista College. In 1951, Alice was united in marriage to John "Jack" Diischer in Jackson, Minnesota. They made their home near Alta for fifty years until Jack's death in 2001, at which time Alice moved into the town of Alta. Alice taught school in Cornell, Iowa, and then was a stay-at-home mother for several years when her children were young. As her children grew, she re-entered the work force as a Tupperware representative, bookkeeper for Pampered Beef, bus driver for Alta Community Schools, and for 25 years operated "Travel with Alice and Jack" with her husband. Alice enjoyed reading, traveling, golfing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. Alice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alta where she served as an Elder, Deacon, and Trustee. She was also a member of Presbyterian Woman, Lydia and Martha Circles, Nokomis Study Club, the We Care Group, Band Mothers, 4-H, the Alta Chapter Order of Eastern Star and Past Matrons. Alice entered the Rolfe Care Center in Rolfe on November 2, 2006. She passed away on April 13, 2008, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 24 days after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents Howard and Elsie; brothers Glen, Gerald, Howard Jr. Henry and Murlan; sisters Mildred, Betty, and Elsie Mae. Alice is survived by seven children, john and Ellen Diischer of Hastings, Minnesota; Breanda and John Olson of Hoxie, Kansas; Howard and Carmen Diischer of Storm Lake; Michael and Charmain Diischer of Pocahontas; Clayton and Lori Diischer of Alta; Mary and Jeff Triplett of Rapid City, South Dakota and Nancy and Gary Hartsock of Urbandale; 14 grandchildren, [redacted] six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanne and Donald Farquhar of Villa Park, Illinois, and Rose Ella and Donald Subbert of Dodge Ceneter, Minnesota; long time friend Helen Cameron of Ala and other relatives and friends.
