She was born in Mahoning County, Ohio, where she lived until about four years of age when she and her widowed mother, four brothers and one sister came to Mercer County, Illinois. Read More	The Belleville Telescope 27 Aug 1931: Mrs. Alice Stewart - Alice Selena Breckenridge was the daughter of William and Mary Breckenridge and was born March 22, 1852, and passed away at her home in Hollis, Kansas, August 31, 1931, being 79 years and 5 months of age. She was born in Mahoning County, Ohio, where she lived until about four years of age when she and her widowed mother, four brothers and one sister came to Mercer County, Illinois. Here she grew to womanhood and December 28, 1870, she was married to Samuel M. Stewart. To this union was born two daughters. In the spring of 1872 they with several other families emigrated to Kansas where she spent the remainder of her life. In the year of 1880 she was baptized and became a member of the Presbyterian Church in Seapo, Kansas. An infirmity of increasing years kept her from attending church or any public gathering but she enjoyed the church services she heard on the radio. She was a member of the Hollis Community Club and as long as her health permitted she attended each meeting and did light work for the club after she was confined to her home. She had been in poor health for a year and after the tragic death of her great-granddaughter, Vivian Hamil, which occurred one month ago, her health failed rapidly. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. J.O. Cory of near Talmo,; one grandson, Orville Cory; one granddaughter, Mrs. Ethel Hamil of Belleville; four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson besides nieces and nephews and other relatives. William married Mary Jane McFarlin in Coitsville Township, OH in about 1840 and had six children: Rufus Manning Breckenridge, William Crawford Breckenridge IV, Caroline J. Breckenridge, John Walter Breckenridge, Hugh Ellis Breckenridge and Alice Breckenridge. William Breckenridge III died on August 10, 1854 and is buried in the Pioneer Methodist Cemetery.
