Description	:	Alister DeLong 1942 Bridgewater Bulletin On February 2nd, the death of Alister DeLong occurred at the home of his step-daughter, Mrs. Percy Cook, Wolfville, Nova Scotia. The deceased was in his 87th. year, and though confined to his bed since Christmas Day, the end came very quietly and without suffering. Mr. DeLong was born in Barss Corner, Lunenburg County, the son of Albert DesBrisay DeLong and the majority of his active life was lived in that community. Mr. DeLong was born in Barss Corner, Lunenburg County, the son of Albert DesBrisay DeLong and the majority of his active life was lived in that community. During the past twenty years he resided in Berwick and Wolfville. He is survived by his wife; four daughters and three sons, Mrs. I.V. Dexter; Mrs. E.S. Graham; and Miss Berdi DeLong of Halifax; Mrs. Rachie Woodworth, Colorado Springs; Lowell and Ormiston, Massachusetts; and Gordon in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Eaton officiated at a very short service at Wolfville, after which remains were taken to Barss Corner for burial. At the Baptist Church there, many friends among whom this family had been reared, gathered to honour the memory of their departed neighbour. Rev. Mr. Hartlin conducted the services at church and grave. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse. Alister married Sarah Jane Chesley on Dec 24, 1882. They had the following children: 1. Lowell C. DeLong b. 1883. 2. Ormiston DeLong b. 1884. 3. Irva Louisa DeLong b. 1887. 4. Vera Mae DeLong b. 1889. 5. Gordon Chesley DeLong b. 1891. 6. Rachel Ann DeLong b. 1894. 7. Bertha MacKenzie DeLong b. 1898. 8. (male) d.y. After Sarah Jane's death in 1904, Alister married Sarah (Stevens) Smeltzer in 1906. This Sarah was the widow of Samuel Smeltzer.
