(Source: Nemaha County, NE Marriage Records) =========================================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, November 24, 1938 Alka John Malpert was born in Berumerfehn, Germany, May 5, 1883. As a five-year old boy he accompanied his parents to America. They made their home near Auburn, Nebraska. Here Mr. Malpert was confirmed, after having been instructed in the teachings of the Lutheran church in 1899. He married Hilka Torbeck April 27, 1904. With her lived near Humboldt and Ruskin before moving, some seventeen years ago, into the Smyrna vicinity, north of Superior. Here he also became a member of Salem Lutheran church. Two years ago he contracted Hotchkin's (sic) disease, which caused him considerable suffering. Pneumonia set in about ten days ago and the complications which followed led to his sudden and unexpected death on Sunday, November 13. Those who remain to mourn his departure are his sorrowing widow, three sons, John of Cadams, Henry and Alvin at home, and two daughters, Mrs. Ervin Oestmann of Nemaha county (sic), and Irene at home, as well as one brother, four sisters and two grandchildren. Two children had died in infancy. The funeral services which were conducted at Salem Lutheran church, were in charge of Rev. P. Weltner of Byron, Wednesday, November 16. Interment was in the Salem cemetery (sic). - Superior Express
