Susoeff, a district resident for seven years, lives with his wife Rosie and two sons at 31386 Santa Elena Way, Union City. Susoeff is a mechanical specialist at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. He has an associate of arts degree from City College of San Francisco, a bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University in industrial design and is now a graduate student at California State University, Hayward in cartography. A priority, he feels, is another high school, with a start on construction within three years. He doesn't care if the high school is located on the Alvarado side of the Nimitz Freeway or the central or Decoto sections of Union City. He first became concerned about another high school when Cesar Chavez Junior High School was not constructed in 1972 following a lot of planning time and almost $1 million in architectural fees and site work. "That was a lot of money committed to a project that went down the drain." he recalls "By now that school could be operating." The junior high school was proposed for the site where New Haven Middle School is now under construction. Susoeff believes there would be a 50-50 chance of a high school bond measure's passing, although it would take a lot of preparatory work, beginning very soon. Susoeff, who was on the district's philosophy and goals committee, believes that parents are concerned about both programs and busing. Susoeff believes that the educational portion of the property tax will be shifted to an income tax as a result of the Serrano-Priest decision. He was the son of Ivan Pataptch Susoeff. Their family and ours picked prunes together in Marysville in the 1920's. It was from Ivan Pataptch that the expression "butterfly six" evoked. It pertained to the model T Ford car they had as I recall. What a wonderful family...we were rather close as families go. They lived in Sheridan and we in later years (1934) rented their very small farm outside of the very small town of Sheridan. Then we all moved to San Francisco and the relationship fell apart. Very sad situation. I had seen Allan up the hill some time ago. I do not recall him marrying Doris Popin.
