Description	:	Alleene Barker Crawley passed away on March 22, 2017. She was born April 15, 1923 in Greenville, SC to the late Eula Smith Barker and John Benjamin Barker. A graduate of North Greenville College, she worked in Washington, DC for several years during World War II before returning to Greenville. While working at Greenville Army Air Base (later Donaldson Air Force Base), she met her husband, James Hugh Crawley, and they married in 1948. Read More	Alleene Barker Crawley passed away on March 22, 2017. She was born April 15, 1923 in Greenville, SC to the late Eula Smith Barker and John Benjamin Barker. A graduate of North Greenville College, she worked in Washington, DC for several years during World War II before returning to Greenville. While working at Greenville Army Air Base (later Donaldson Air Force Base), she met her husband, James Hugh Crawley, and they married in 1948. As they raised their three children, she worked as a secretary and substitute teacher, dedicating herself to her family and community. She served as the regent of the Behethland Butler chapter, the state regent, and as a national vice president general of the Daughters of the American Revolution; president of the Greenville chapter of the South Carolina Genealogical Society; and as vice-chairman of the Old Exchange Building Commission in Charleston, SC. A member of the Clarice Wilson Garden Club, Greenville Garden Club, and Hillcrest Garden Club, she was also a flower show judge. She was an active member of Augusta Heights Baptist Church and Fountain Inn First Baptist Church for many years, serving as an adult Sunday School teacher. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and the Lord, for her love of flowers and gardening, and as an avid Clemson fan. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, James Hugh Crawley; their three children, Deborah Crawley Thompson, Stuart Winston Crawley (Debbie), and Anne Crawley Lewis (Sayle); their four grandchildren, Brian Thompson (Ashley), Kacie Lewis Forrest (Bill), Caroline Thompson Greer (Kendall), and Brent Lewis; their four great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Thompson, Natalie Thompson, Everleigh Greer, and Annagrace Greer; and her sister and brother, Miriam Barker Summers and Paul Barker. Interment at Springwood Cemetery.
