Description	:	Allen Clifford Harrington, son of Ira and Lola (Nelson) Harrington, was born August 2, 1919, in Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2002, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of of 82 years, 6 months and 11 days. Read More	Allen Clifford Harrington, son of Ira and Lola (Nelson) Harrington, was born August 2, 1919, in Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2002, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of of 82 years, 6 months and 11 days. He graduated from Nelson High School in 1938. Clifford was in the Soil Conservation Corps for two years and then did training with the Medical Corps. He joined the U.S. Army on November 20, 1940. Clifford was badly burned while serving his country and went through many years of plastic surgeries and rehabilitation. Despite his limitations, Clifford always supported himself by whatever job was available. He had two marriages. No children were born to these unions. His dear friend, Ellen, currently resides in Omaha. Clifford worked for the Yellow Cab Company when he lived in California and when he moved to Omaha where he lived for 31 years. He also worked for Safeway in Omaha. Clifford retired in 1984 and moved to Superior. He resided the past few years in the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson. During that time he and his good friend, Lynn Meyer, were roommates. Clifford loved his hometown of Nelson where he was an active member of American Legion Post #187. He was very grateful for the many kindnesses shown him by that club. Being an avid football fan, Clifford's most recent thrill was being able to watch the Lawrence/Nelson Raiders win the state championship in Lincoln Memorial Stadium. If he could have expressed his last thoughts one would have been "Go Big Red". Your family and friends will miss you "Cliff". Preceding him in death were his parents, Lola and Ira; one brother, William; and one sister, Hope Fisher. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson with Jim Rodehorst and Rev. Ralph Sturdy officiating. Music was the congregation singing "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" with Virginia Drohman as organist. Military rites were by Nelson American Legion Post #187. Interment was in Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of arrangements. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, February 21, 2002
