Read More	LAST RITES BEEMER MAN HELD TUESDAY Allen Sullivan passed away at his home here Sunday morning, January 19, after an illness of but a few weeks. His death came as a profound shock to the community, since he had been up and about a couple of weeks ago. Allen Edward Sullivan, eldest son of the late Edward A. and Lura M. Sullivan was born at Beemer, Nebraska on April 9, 1903 and died January 19, 1947 at the age of 43 years, 9 months and then days. He was graduated from the Beemer High School with the Class of 1922, after which he attended Wesleyan University at University Place, Nebraska for one year. He then went to Boulder, Colorado where his mother was residing at the time and where he was employed in a fruit store for about a year. He then returned to Nebraska and was employed by farmers at Beemer and Pierce. While working at Pierce he met Elvira Mordhorst and they were united in marriage on December 25, 1930. Following their marriage they established their home in Beemer where he entered into any activity he felt he could best serve his community. He was particularly interested in the welfare of the children and was serving his third term as secretary of the Beemer Commercial Club. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department of which he had been president for two years, serving faithfully until he was forced to discontinue because of his failing health. From childhood he was a member of the First Methodist Church at Beemer and also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. For the past nine years he was employed as foreman at the Hill Hatchery of West Point, Nebraska where his friendly, generous spirit endeared him to all his business associates. Although he was never in robust health his untimely death came as a shock to the entire community. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Elvira, four brothers, Herbert and Warren of Boulder, Colorado; Dwight and Chester of Idaho Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Gladys Peterson of Portland, Oregon and Erva of Denver, Colorado, many other relative and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Church, Rev. E.A. Gaither officiated. Music was furnished by Mrs. Walter Ehler and Mrs. M. Belling, Miss Ruth Harrison accompanist. Interment was in the local cemetery with Fred Buhk, Floyd Nellor, Lorin Martin, Spencer Taylor, H. Ellis and C.A. Hansen as pallbearers. Flower girls were Wilma Fehliman, Ethel Hansen, Margueritte Nellor and Catherine Von Seggern. The songs "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" were used.
