Description	:	ALLEN PETERSON, 93 of Grant, former longtime resident of Lewellen, passed away December 4, 2016 at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant. Allen was born February 4, 1923 at Oshkosh, Nebraska to Clifford and Wilhelmina (Pause) Peterson. Allen graduated from Lisco High School with the class of 1941. On December 22, 1946, Allen married Geraldine Hahn, and their union was blessed with 2 boys, Larry and Andrew. The family made their home at Lisco, Nebraska, where they farmed with Allen's parents. Read More	ALLEN PETERSON, 93 of Grant, former longtime resident of Lewellen, passed away December 4, 2016 at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant. Allen was born February 4, 1923 at Oshkosh, Nebraska to Clifford and Wilhelmina (Pause) Peterson. Allen graduated from Lisco High School with the class of 1941. On December 22, 1946, Allen married Geraldine Hahn, and their union was blessed with 2 boys, Larry and Andrew. The family made their home at Lisco, Nebraska, where they farmed with Allen's parents. In 1954, the couple moved to Lewellen, where they lived the next 61 years together. In 2015, Allen and Geraldine moved to Grant to be closer to family. Allen was dedicated to the farmer's life and being a good steward of the land. He had a strong work ethic that spanned his entire working life. Allen started backing away from daily farm operations at around the age of 90, but remained active in many ways, even assisting with the setting of irrigation pipe at the age of 92. When he wasn't farming, Allen loved spending time in his goose blind, watching Husker athletics, or woodworking. Allen had served on the Lewellen School Board, Lewellen Blue Creek Ditch Board & Garden County Fair Board. He was a also member of the North Platte NRD for 23 years. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; son, Andrew; 2 brothers, Max (Dorothy) Peterson and Roger (July) Peterson; sister, Marjorie (Floyd) Reagan. Survivors include his wife of nearly 70 years, Geraldine Peterson of Grant; son, Larry (Janice) Peterson of Grant; grandchildren, Nancy (Kyle) Salsman of Lincoln and Michael Peterson of Sheridan, WY; great grandchildren, Carson & Caden Salsman of Lincoln, Greeli & Graysin Peterson of Sheridan, WY; sister-in-law, Eleanor Fanholz of CA; along with many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. the Lewellen United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeniffer Brand officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Ash Hollow Cemetery. Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge of arrangements.
