On This 20th day of March, A.D. one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public, within and for the County and State aforesaid, duly authorized to administer oaths, S.W. Reynolds, aged 74 years, a resident of No. 1315 23d Street, Des Moines, County of Polk, State of Iowa, and Anna Reynolds, aged 69 years, a resident of No. 1315 23d Street, Des Moines, County of Polk State of Iowa, well known by me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn according to law, declare in relation to the aforesaid case as follows: We are husband and wife, the first affiant being a twin brother of Allen W. Reynolds, the above named soldier. First affiant, for himself, says that he knew said Allen W. Reynolds from infancy till his death, continuously and well. The second affiant, for herself says that she first became acquainted with said Allen W. Reynolds when he was nineteen years of age, and knew him continuously thereafter till his death; that she was a schoolmate of Laura F. Banning, who was later the first wife of said soldier. Based on the above knowledge, we depose and say: That said Allen W. Reynolds was married three times, only; That he first married Laura F. Banning, who died September 12, 1892, at Keokuk County, Iowa: That he next married Maggie Sheridan, who died at Keokuk County, Iowa, Feb 23, 1911, and that his next and only additional marriage was to Mrs. Susie Ryan, who is now the claimant in this case; That said Allen W. Reynolds and the claimant lived together as husband and wife till his death, never having been separated or divorced. S. W. Reynolds Anna Reynolds Allen Wiley Reynolds, was born near Peru, Ind., June 28, 1844. In 1853 he came with his parents to Keokuk County, Iowa, where they located on a farm in East Lancaster Township, where he grew to manhood. He enlisted for service in the Civil War on February 29, 1863, Co. I, 40th Iowa Infantry, and served until the close of the war. On the 12th day of June, 1870 he married Laura Finley Banning. To this union were born nine children, eight of these are living, two girls and six boys. On the 12th day of September, 1892; Mrs. Reynolds passed into the better world leaving him with his large family to fight the battles of life. On March the 5th he was united in marriage to Mrs. Maggie Sheradan of Richland, Iowa. To them were born three sons. He resided on the farm near Ollie until the spring of 1904 when he moved to Ollie, where he lived until the death of Mrs. Reynolds, Feb. 23, 1911. On the 11th day of July, 1914, he was again united in marriage to Susie Ryan, of Peoria, Ill., who survives him. Four years ago he moved to Des Moines where he resided until his death. Deceased was a member of the national Drum Corps, and also a member of the Kingsman Post of Des Moines. He and his twin brother, S. W. Reynolds of Des Moines along with other members of the Drum Corps, have furnished music on various occasions for the recent war work. Mr. Reynolds was a member of the University Place Christian church of Des Moines. He departed his life at his late home on Sunday, Dec. 1, 1918, after a short illness, at the age of 74 years six months and two days. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and eleven children, twenty-four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; six brothers and one sister, Mrs. J. G. Goss of Ollie, IA. Brief services were conducted at the late home 1338-26th St., by Rev. S. S. Jones, after which the remains were brought to Sigourney for final service and interment.
