Description	:	Alma A. Bredthauer was born at Albert, Kansas on January 25, 1897 to Rev. Reinhold and Louise Pohlman Hellwege and died on February 11, 1984 at the Howard County Hospital in St. Paul, Nebraska at the age of 87. She was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Albert, Kansas on February 7, 1897. When very young, the family moved to Hellshore, Kansas and lived there for three years. She was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Albert, Kansas on February 7, 1897. When very young, the family moved to Hellshore, Kansas and lived there for three years. They moved to Ord, Nebraska in 1900 when her father received a call to serve the Mira Valley and Scotia congregations. She received her education at District 10 and was confirmed at the Mira Valley Church in 1911. Alma was united in marriage to Arnold D. Bredthauer August 1, 1918 at Ord. They lived on a farm south of Ord until 1906 when Arnold's health forced them to move to Prescott, Arizona. After his death in 1948, she returned to her home south of Ord and in 1955 moved to her new home at Scotia, residing there until her death. During her life time, she was an active member of the St. John Lutheran Church at Ord and Zion Lutheran Church at Scotia and was an honorary member of the Ladies Aid of Scotia. She was a member of the Scotia Legion Auxiliary.farm south of Ord until 1906 when Arnold's health forced them to move to Prescott, Arizona. After his death in 1948, she returned to her home south of Ord and in 1955 moved to her new home at Scotia, residing there until her death. During her life time, she was an active member of the St. John Lutheran Church at Ord and Zion Lutheran Church at Scotia and was an honorary member of the Ladies Aid of Scotia. She was a member of the Scotia Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include two daughters, Norma Fox of Ord and Louise Wells of Cotesfield; one son Arvin of Ord; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one brother, Rev. Oscar Hellwege of Marshall, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, three grandsons, one sister, Clare Ebel; and five brothers, Adolph, Walter, Otto, Edgar and Emil. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 14, at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church of Scotia with Rev. Paul Kern officiating. Music was provided by a granddaughter Karen Wells of St. Louis, MO, at the organ, and the church choir. Pallbearers were Ronald and Michael Fox, Garry and Mark Wells, and Scott, Craig, Paul and Todd Bredthauer, all grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Bryson, Dale May, Harold Johnson, Wilbur Fuss, Daryl Holt and Gerhard Beilke. Burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery with Ord Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.
