Alma attended District 45 country school near Cadams, Nebraska. At her parents home on January 30, 1936, Alma married Rudolph Ahrens. They moved to Superior in 1945 where she was employed at Lloyd's Hatchery and Superior Bakery, the Hilltop Cafe, and did housekeeping and cared for many people. She was a member of Centennial Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women's Missionary League, helped with Sunday School and Bible School at Salem Lutheran and Centennial Lutheran Churches. She was a volunteer at Good Samaritan Center. Alma enjoyed needlework, especially embroidering and quilting. She also enjoyed family history and old photographs. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Rudolph on March 13, 1987; three sons, Eldon Ray, Ronald Eugene and Roland Vergene; one brother, Albert Grummert; and a granddaughter, Diane Boyle. Survivors include on son Robert Ahrens and his wife Arlene of Superior, Nebraska; three daughters, Dorothy Boyle and her husband Everett of Salina, Kansas, Helen Platt and her husband Ralph of Superior, Nebraska, and Carolyn Peterson and her husband Roger of Curtis, Nebraska; one stepson, Duane Ahrens and his wife Karla of Torrington, Wyoming; two sisters, Mildred Black and Verna Roe and her husband Warren, all of Superior, Nebraska; one sister-in-law, Irma Grummert of Superior, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and six ste great grandchildren.
