She passed away on December 19, 2009 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 3 months and 2 days. Mildred was baptized on October 17, 1915 by Rev. She passed away on December 19, 2009 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 3 months and 2 days. Mildred was baptized on October 17, 1915 by Rev. Gundel and confirmed on May 12, 1929 by Rev. Bunge at Salem Lutheran Church north of Superior, Nebraska. She graduated from Cadams High School. On November 22, 1951 she was united in marriage to Arthur J. Andersen at Clay Center, Nebraska and to this union was born one daughter, Janice. Mildred and Arthur lived in Hardy, Nebraska moving to Edgar where they lived for two years, back to Hardy and then making their home in Superior. Arthur passed away on July 8, 1982. She was united in marriage to Arlie Black on June 27, 1987 at Carpenter, Wyoming. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1995. Mildred was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Eagles Auxillary, the Birthday Club. Past officer of the B.P.W., the AARP, the After 5 Christian Womens Club and enjoyed quilting with her friends at the Salem Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur and her husband Arlie, one brother Albert Grummert and two sisters, Alma Ahrens and Verna Roe. She is survived by her daughter Janice Smidt of Superior, Nebraska, four step-grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren along with nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska with Pastor Scot McCluskey and Irvin Schleufer, PMA officiating. Pallbearers were Blake Smidt, Gregg Smidt, Kevin Smidt, Phil Jensen, Roland Shambaugh, Jim Pursell and Jim Rust. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska.
