Description	:	On January 20, 1878, Perry William Hartman married Almira Des Moines Vernon of Boone, a daughter of John and Carolina (Lambert) Vernon, the latter deceased. Caroline had died March 18, 1863 when Almira was three years old. Her dad, with three children remarried. He married Harriet Symantha Stearns, on November 11, 1863. Perry William and Almira Hartman settled at Alta. Later, during pregnancy she became ill. On March 18, 1879, their son Perry Vernon Hartman was born. Caroline had died March 18, 1863 when Almira was three years old. Her dad, with three children remarried. He married Harriet Symantha Stearns, on November 11, 1863. Perry William and Almira Hartman settled at Alta. Later, during pregnancy she became ill. On March 18, 1879, their son Perry Vernon Hartman was born. She and baby Perry returned to Boonsboro to live with her family (a fact attested too by the 1880 Census record). Perry remained at Alta to pay off the debts they incurred there and then joined his wife and son in Boonsboro. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hartman and their friends highly were esteemed and respected in Boone, Iowa, as people of worth and substance. They were useful citizens who contributed to the material, moral and intellectual growth of their city and county. A little more than a decade from the death of her husband, Almira Hartman moved to Granville, Illinois, to live with her son Perry Vernon Hartman for awhile. At that time the Hartman Clinic was in operation and she could be cared for effectively by Dr. Hartman and his staff. She then went to stay for awhile with her daughter Ina. There she died on March 10, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri.
