In the Probate Court of the City of St. Louis State of Missouri In the Probate Court of the City of St. Louis State of Missouri, before Jeptha Simpson, administrator. Hon. J. G. Woerner, Probate Judge: Your petitioner Almon Brewster resident of Portsmouth Shelby County, Iowa, respectfully shows that he is a brother in the full blood of the late Joseph Brewster who died intestate in the City of St. Louis on the 2nd day of October 1886. That he is a full brother of Milo Brewster of Hughes County Dakota and that he is an heir at law of the said Joseph Brewster deceased. That he knows the said Joseph Brewster deceased, to be his same identical brother above referred to by said name. That he desires to have all his rights as such heir recognized and protected. That he received numerous letters from his late brother during his life time and saw him a number of times while he was living at St. Louis. Your petitioner shows, that his father's name was Peter Brewster who resided when he died in St. Lawrence County, in the State of New York. That his mother's maiden name was Charlotte Town. That after the death of the said Peter Brewster his said widow married one John T. Thornton and they came to LaSalle County Illinois, and resided at, or near the town of Earlville in said County. That the said Peter Brewster and his said wife gave issue to the following children, Hiram, Joseph, Jordan (who died when an infant), William, Emeline, Almon, (your petitioner) and Milo. That affiant's said mother and her second husband the said John T. Thornton had one son a half brother to affiant - named Orthens J. Thornton. That the said Hiram Brewster lived in Tuscola County Michigan, where he died leaving a large family. That his post office address to the best of affiant's knowledge was at Warth in said county. That the said Joseph Brewster (the deceased) lived at St. Louis Missouri and had no children. That the said William Brewster died near Warrentown La Salle County Illinois leaving no heirs. That affiant's said mother is long since deceased. That said Emeline Brewster married one Daniel D. Graft and lived at or near said town of Earlville, and died a few days after her said marriage leaving no issue. That the late Joseph Brewster was twice married. He was divorced from his first wife about 1865 and they had no children. That his second wife was named Prucena A. Rockwell before he married her and he called her "Sena".
