Description	:	Aloysius Peter "Bud" Jonas, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at the Central Wyoming Hospice Home in Casper, Wyoming. His life began on Nov. 16, 1921, the son of Peter Francis and Eva (Diedrich) Jonas Sr. on the family farm near Alton, Iowa, homesteaded by his German ancestors in 1884. Later, he joined the United States Army Air Corps where he served as a veterinarian technician and meat inspector. Read More	Aloysius Peter "Bud" Jonas, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at the Central Wyoming Hospice Home in Casper, Wyoming. His life began on Nov. 16, 1921, the son of Peter Francis and Eva (Diedrich) Jonas Sr. on the family farm near Alton, Iowa, homesteaded by his German ancestors in 1884. Later, he joined the United States Army Air Corps where he served as a veterinarian technician and meat inspector. After the Army, he worked as a mechanic and auctioneer before taking over the family farm in the 1960's. He was a hardworking, successful, resourceful, and creative farmer with his brother, Pete. Donning a Stetson and a smile, he would say, "Every day of farming is like a vacation to me." As a father he would let the three boys crawl over him during Huntley and Brinkley, and he loved listening to daughter Bonnie Sue knock out The Twelfth Street Rag on the piano. He and his wife Clay welcomed the kids' teenage friends over for ping pong, cards, ribbing, and laughter. Later in life, he and Clay moved to Wyoming where he built a log cabin from scratch, continued woodworking, volunteered with the police department, and managed the century farm. Family gatherings included trips up to the cabin, hand making sausages, and dining on unique delicacies like tripen, head cheese and pickled beef tongue. Over 62 years, Bud and Clay's love matured with gentleness and consideration as they grew closer together. After nine decades the sparkle in his eyes, great sense of humor, his infectious laugh never faded. Bud's legacy will remain with us forever. As one family member said, "Heaven will never be the same!" Bud is survived by his wife, Clarice Ann (Streff) "Clay" Jonas, of Douglas; children, Bonnie Sue (Gale) Lane of Douglas, James (Lisa) Jonas of Norwood, Minn., and Patrick (Pauline) Jonas of Palm Bay, Florida; sisters, Bernice Hastert of Alton, Jeanne (Don) Schneider of Albuquerque, N.M., and Charmaine (Ross) Johnstone of Lake Arrowhead, Calif.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jonas of Remsen, Iowa; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Adam Jonas, Laura Jonas, and Joseph Jonas the children of Brad and Jean Jonas, Paul (Adria) Jonas their son Macallan, Anna Jonas, and Katherine Jonas the children of James and Lisa Jonas; Michelle Jonas, Eric Jonas, and Rob Jonas the children of Patrick and Pauline Jonas; and Jeff (Val) Lane and their children, Leona (Bryce) Kelly, Misty Lane, Shawn Lane, and Alesha Lane and Susan Scratchley and her children, Alex Scratchley, Eric Scratchley, and Hunter Scratchley. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brad Jonas, on Aug. 19, 1990; sisters, Mildred Sanders and Joanie Stanley; and brothers, Victor Jonas, Ike Jonas, Pete Jonas, and infant Zeno Jonas. Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Jonas, Paul Jonas, Joe Jonas, Anna Jonas, Katherine Jonas, and Eric Jonas. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Laura Jonas, Rob Jonas, and Michelle Jonas. Inurnment will be in the Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Alton, Iowa at a later date to be announced.
