Description	:	Obituary Alpheus Foss, a well known resident, passed away at his home March 4 at the age of 81. He was born in Jonesport, Jan. 25 1872, the son of Benjamin Francis and Helen Farnsworth Foss. He spent his early life in Jonesport and Mahias, working in a livery stable. In 1906 he marrried Elsie Munson of Edmunds, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loring Munson. Three children were born to them, one son, Harland Foss, being killed in World War II on January 25, 1945. In 1906 he marrried Elsie Munson of Edmunds, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loring Munson. Three children were born to them, one son, Harland Foss, being killed in World War II on January 25, 1945. On Oct. 23, 1923, he moved to Edmunds, and was foreman for the S.D. Warren Company at Whiting. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Norman of Edmunds, and Francis of Portland; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Cecelia Woodward, of East Machias; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, at the Congregational Church, Rev. Carl Kingsbury officiating. Burial was in the Dennysville Cemetery. Those attending from out of town were Mr. edward Foss of Machias, Mrs. Laura Smith of Ellsworth Falls, Mr. Merrill Wallace and Mr. Alonzo Hatch of Jonesboro.
