Tyler, well known Lawsonia resident, was found dead at his home in the Byrdtown section Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. He was found by his son, Fred Tyler, 17, who had gone to visit his father. Tyler, well known Lawsonia resident, was found dead at his home in the Byrdtown section Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. He was found by his son, Fred Tyler, 17, who had gone to visit his father. Mr. Tyler was 49 years old. Dr. William H. Coulbourne, deputy medical examiner, issued a verdict of death by natural causes as the result of heart failure. Mr. Tyler recently has consulted a doctor for a heart condition. Dr. Coulbourne stated that the deceased had been dead at least thirty hours, placing the time of death about 3:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Mr. Tyler was born in Crisfield, the son of the late Christopher and Lillie Tyler. He was a waterman, owning and operating a crab shanty on Jenkins Creek. He reposed at the Bradshaw Funeral Home until Friday afternoon when funeral services were held from the Pilgrim Holiness Church at three o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Charles L. Engrem. Interment was in the Asbury Cemetery. Besides his son, he is survived by two sisters: Mrs. Carl Sterling and Mrs. Emory Ford; and a brother, James W. Tyler, all of Crisfield. The Crisfield Times, Crisfield, Maryland, Friday, December 17, 1954, p. 8 ___________ His marker was found in the Hill-Sterling-Ward-Turner plot at the foot of the cedar tree.
