LIFELONG OSSIAN RESIDENT, ALVIN MEYER, 78, DIES IN KENDALLVILLE A lifelong resident of the Ossian area, Alvin C. Meyer, 78, died at his home in rural Kendallville at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday. Born in Wells County May 22, 1911, he was a son of Ernst and Marie Wiegmann Meyer. His marriage to the former Minnie Nahrwold, who preceded him in death April 21, 1983, took place in Tocsin Oct. 9, 1932. Mr. Meyer, who was also a farmer, retired in 1976 after 39 years of service at Magnavox. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He is survived by two sons, Wilbur Meyer of Ossian, and Kenneth Meyer of New Port Richey, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Doris Ann) Graft of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Paul (Sandra Kay) Lydy of Kendallville; one sister, Mabel Carpenter of Woodburn ; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 7 to 9 today and from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Elzey-Dickey-Haggard Funeral Home in Ossian, where services will be conducted by Rev. William R. Brege at 1:15 p.m. Saturday. Services will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, following by burial in the church cemetery.
