He had been confined to the hospital since shortly after World War I. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Odebolt at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Fred E. Attendants were Melvin Rabe, Marvin Rabe, Robert Buehler, Raymond Landgraf, Donald Buettner, Ralph Mandernach. Alvin Charles Hausmann, the son of Henry and Anna Hausmann, was born on the family farm, near Odebolt, Sac County, Iowa September 23, 1893. He attended the rural schools of Richland township and engaged in farming with his father until he enlisted in the United States Army April 29, 1918. He served in the American Expeditionary Forces and fought in the battles of Meuse-Argonne and Saint Michiel in France. After Honorable Discharge from the services, he returned to Odebolt for a short period of time. He has been confined to the Veterans' hospital at Knoxville for many years, almost continuously since the termination of World War I. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Hausmann, and is survived by one sister, Martha Hausmann, and many cousins.
