Rancher Alvin E. Mahrt was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at Lincoln General Hospital by Lif Flight helicopter, said Lancaster county Deputy Sheriff Jerry Hopper. Mahrt was crushed by the bull when the hornless animal pinned him against the fence as he was trying to load the animal or put it in a chute, Hopper said. Others there could ot get the bull off of Mahrt, he said.
