The son of the late John & Christina (Beiser) Neumeyer, he was born January 4, 1921 in Bay City. Alvin served for 3½ years with the US Army in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a farmer and also a carpenter, retiring from Carpenters Union Local 706. Alvin was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. He was very active in his church and was a member of the St. Paul Men's Club. Alvin enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. On January 27, 1946 Alvin married the former Esther M. Hammerbacher in St. John Lutheran Church of Amelith and she survives him along with their seven children, Dennis (Marsha) Neumeyer, Thomas (Judy) Neumeyer, Ann (Tim) Schroeder, John (Nan) Neumeyer, Brenda (Mark) Crane, Marte (Leigh) Neumeyer and Beth (Scott) Norfleet; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Duncanson; a brother-in-law, Rudolph Hammerbacher; two sisters-in-law, Florence Mammel and Mildred Janz; and many nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Alvin was also preceded in death by two sisters, Selma Engerer and Dorothy Goetz. The funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Friday August 7, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. Officiating will be Rev. Corey J. Grunklee and Rev. Paul D. Theiss with interment following in St. Paul Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 9:00pm. Mr. Neumeyer will lie in-state at the church on Friday from 10:00am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul Memorial Fund or Lutheran Hour Ministries.
