He married Gertrude Popken February 14, 1943. Mr. Sommervold farmed in Union. County until retiring to Akron in 1984. He was a member of Union Creek Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife Gertrude; a son, Alan and his wife April, of Akron; two granddaughters, Tara and Amber Sommervold, both of Vermillion, South Dakota; a brother, Arlo of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and a sister, Opal Robertson of Akron.
