Read More	The Chronicle Omak A long-time Omak resident, Alvin Moses, passed away Monday evening, July 21, at Mid-Valley Hospital surrounded by his family. Alvin Moses was born on May 8, 1916, outside the town of Robinson, Kans., to Harry and Vina Moses. He grew up in Robinson and graduated from Robinson High School in 1934, where he played basketball and baseball. In 1936, he came to Omak and worked in various orchards in the area until he was employed at Biles-Coleman Lumber Company, where he worked for 42 years until his retirement in 1978. He married Rita Conrad on February 22, 1941, and they lived in Omak for the remainder of their lives, raising six children at the home on Conconully Highway. Alvin's main focus during his life was his family and his small orchard, but he was also involved in community activities. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the local Elks' Lodge and at one time was president of the Omak Little League organization. He also served for many years as the treasurer of The Sawdust Maker's Union. One of his favorite activities was singing with The Esquires, Omak's male chorus in the 1960's. He is survived by six children, Paul Moses (Marilyn) of Okanogan, Roy Moses (Karen) of Hillsboro, Ore., Janet Pillow (Dale) of Hillsboro, Ore., Greg Moses (Linda) of East Wenatchee, Mark Moses (Louetta) of Fairfield, Wash. and Marla Ford (Peter) of Seattle, Wash. He is also survived by his sister, Evalyn Wright of Lacey, Wash.; ten grandchildren; 12 great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by Rita, his loving wife of 58 years; two grandsons, Troy and Todd Moses; his parents, Harry and Vina Moses; brothers, Merle Moses, Carl Moses and Lewis Moses; and his sister, Betty Thrasher. Funeral services were held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church on Monday, July 28 at 11 a.m. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
