Alvina grew up on a farm near Amherst, CO and was united in marriage to Wayne E. Folker on June 9, 1937 at Amherst. They lived in Julesburg, CO until 1957 before moving to North Platte. She was employed at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in the Dietary Section and retired at the age of 77. Alvina was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting and loved her garden. Her loved ones include; her daughters, Shirley (Bob) Nielsen of Brady and Janet (Bill) Hill of Ogallala; her son Bob (Karron) Folker of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Helen Einspahr of Denver, CO; 7 grandchildren, Cindy Porter of North Platte, Bill (Julie) Hill of Cheyenne, WY, Wendy and Philip Nielsen both of Lincoln, Jeff (Jen) Nielsen of North Platte, Aimee Folker and John (Lorelei) Folker of Omaha; and 9 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son, Rick Folker, 5 sisters, and a brother. A celebration of Alvina's life will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2011 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robert Deardoff officiating. Cremation was chosen. Memorials are suggested to the Geriatric Care Unit at Beloit, KS. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel which is in charge of arrangements.
