She was born on June 30, 1916, at rural DeWitt, the daughter of Fred and Nettie (Schuerman) Pohlmann. She attended District 42 and DeWitt High School. She married Ernest Holsing on Sept. 7, 1937, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of rural DeWitt. They lived and farmed north of Clatonia until they retired and moved to Clatonia in 1966. Read More	Amanda Charlotte Ella Holsing, 91, of Clatonia, died in Lincoln, on Saturday morning, Feb. 23, 2008. She was born on June 30, 1916, at rural DeWitt, the daughter of Fred and Nettie (Schuerman) Pohlmann. She attended District 42 and DeWitt High School. She married Ernest Holsing on Sept. 7, 1937, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of rural DeWitt. They lived and farmed north of Clatonia until they retired and moved to Clatonia in 1966. She worked for a short time at the Wilber nursing home. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of rural DeWitt, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Circle and did volunteer work. She was also a former member of the Country Neighbors Extension Club. Amanda spent her life as a dedicated Christian, homemaker, farmer’s wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and playing cards. Survivors include: two daughters, Marlene Damkroger and her husband Ron and Donna Helmke and her husband Myron; one son, Kenneth Holsing and his wife Karen; eight grandchildren, Rick Damkroger and his wife Carol, Valerie Wegener and her husband David, Troy Holsing and his wife Brenda, Tracy Holsing and his wife Susan, Tami Clark and her husband Ryan, Scott Helmke, Jason Helmke and his wife Laura, and Matt Helmke; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Verna Holsing and her husband Ervin; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Nettie (Schuerman) Pohlmann; her husband, Ernest, who died March 6, 1990; two brothers, Harvey Pohlmann and his wife Erna, Arnold Pohlmann and his wife Edna; and one sister, Irma Pohlmann. Funeral services on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial in the church cemetery. Obituary information from the Beatrice Daily Sun.
