Description	:	From a Nance County, Nebraska, newspaper clipping file, transcribed by Linda Berney: Mrs. Thomas Loftus Sr. was born December 27, 1879 at Pacific Junction Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Smith P. Brown. She grew up in Omaha, where she married Thomas Millner. Four children were born to them, two dying in infancy. Surviving their mother are LeRoy of Valley, Nebraska, and Mrs. Chauncey McIntyre of Fullerton. Brown. She grew up in Omaha, where she married Thomas Millner. Four children were born to them, two dying in infancy. Surviving their mother are LeRoy of Valley, Nebraska, and Mrs. Chauncey McIntyre of Fullerton. After Mr. Millner's death, the young mother came to Nance county, where she married Thomas Luftus Sr. The children took the step-father's name. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Loftus, one dying in infancy. Surviving are: Mrs. Marvin McAfee, Mrs. George Greek, Mrs. Gene Gilson, Arthur and Elmer of Fullerton, Thomas Jr. of Grand Island and Charles of Manning, Iowa. Mrs. Loftus has been in poor health for several years. Following a stroke six weeks ago, she remained critically ill at Memorial Hospital where her husband was daily at her bedside until her death on March 7, 1951. She received Christian baptism on January 28, 1951, the Rev. Carl Sandberg officiating. She made a career of mothering all the children around her, beginning with her own brothers and sisters following the death of their mother. Neighborhood children always knew and loved her. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Pearl Carmine of Brea, California, 24 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends...Burial was in the Fullerton Cemetery.
