Mr. Langer was born May 23, 1928, at Rice, Minn., to Peter and Frederica (Glaser) Langer. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Helen Langer of Spalding; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Larry Langer and Beth Ann Rose of Lincoln, Don Langer and Ann Martinsen, Rob and Mary Langer and Gary and Cheri Langer, all of Spalding; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Marilyn and Todd Wedige of Lincoln and Patricia and Vic Glaser of Spalding; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Leona and Francis Schmidt and Eileen and Rich Bauer of Spalding; and one brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Eva Langer, all of Spalding. Ambrose moved to Spalding, with his family, in 1931. He attended Greeley County School District 10 through eighth grade and graduated from Spalding Academy in 1947. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951 and served as a sergeant in the Korean War, where he was in charge of building Treadway Bridges with the 58th Engineering Treadway Bridge Company. On June 18, 1952, Ambrose married Helen Harris, daughter of Frank and Marie (Cannon) Harris at Sacred Heart Church in Greeley. He lived and farmed west of Spalding, farmed in the Pibel Lake area, while also doing construction work. Ambrose established Langer Construction, working many years with his adult children. He was a meticulous builder and built or repaired many farm buildings, commercial buildings and homes, and also laid countless yards of concrete. He was a dealer for Chief Industries for 40 years and erected numerous grain bins and buildings. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, St. Michael's Men's Club, American Legion Post 299, enjoyed bowling, played several musical instruments and loved to fish. Ambrose was preceded in death by his parents; a baby sister; a grandson, Patrick Langer; and two brothers-in-law, Rich Bauer and Francis Schmidt.
