Description	:	Mrs. Currie submitted to a major operation Saturday morning at St. Joseph's hospital in Sioux City. Complications developed following the operation and she passed away Sunday night about 11 o'clock. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home and at the Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A.E. Nelson. Amelia Jensen, oldest daughter of Jens and Mary Jensen was born in Alta, June 2, 1888, and passed away at St. Joseph's hospital in Sioux City on June 2, 1940, at the age of 52 years. She attended the Alta public schools until the family moved to Schaller in 1899, graduating from the Schaller schools in 1906, with the honor of valedictorian. She attended State Teachers college in Cedar Falls and taught in the rural schools of Sac county for several years and also in the Schaller public schools. On January 25, 1916 she was united in marriage to Asa A. Currie of Schaller and to this union four children were born. Mrs. Marian Benson of Kiron, Roger, Raymond, and Bruce at home. Besides her husband and children, she is survived by her mother, two sisters, one brother, and a host of other relatives. She was a charter member of the Schaller Civic club, a member of the Eureka Garden club, of the Presbyterian church , of the Ladies' Aid and Missionary society. Pallbearers were Clarence Helming, John Watson, Tom Clark, John Clausen, A.K. Rininger and Will Spindler. Interment was in the Schaller cemetery. Taken from the Storm Lake Pilot Tribune 6 Jun 1940.
