Description	:	Asa A. Currie was born in Sac County on a farm near Odebolt, on April 24, 1885. His parents were Hector and Jeanie Sellers Currie. He was baptized in infancy and in young adulthood was received into the membership of the Schaller Methodist Church. He received his schooling in Sac county rural schools. Currie was born in Sac County on a farm near Odebolt, on April 24, 1885. His parents were Hector and Jeanie Sellers Currie. He was baptized in infancy and in young adulthood was received into the membership of the Schaller Methodist Church. He received his schooling in Sac county rural schools. On Jan. 25, 1916, he was united in marriage to Amelia Jensen at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jens Jensen in Schaller. After their marriage he, by reaffirmation of faith, was received into the life long membership in the First Presbyterian Church, Schaller. He and his wife lived on the Currie farm west of Schaller until her death in 1940. In 1946 he moved to Schaller and made his home with his brother, C.W. Currie. On Dec. 2, 1970, he became a resident of the Methodist Manor Health Care Center, Storm Lake, where on Oct. 13, 1972, at the age of 87 years he passed away, following pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Amelia and one brother, Louis Currie and one sister, Myrtle, Mrs. W.J. Poller. He is survived by one daughter and three sons, Marion, Mrs. Lloyd Benson of Kiron, Roger and Raymond of Schaller and Bruce of Galva; three daughters-in-law, LaVaughn, Shirley and Bonnie and one son-in-law, Lloyd Benson; two brothers, C.W. Currie and Roy Currie of Schaller and four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Martha Currie and Miss Lillian Jensen of Schaller, Mrs. Inez Brownell of Mason City, and Mrs. Edna Currie, Colonial Manor of Odebolt; also 11 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Masonic services were held at the Farber & Otteman funeral home, Schaller, Sunday, Oct. 15, by Acme Lodge 457 A.F. & A.M. Schaller. Services were conducted at First Presbyterian church, Schaller, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, by Rev. G.G. Nusbaum. Music, Mrs. Oren Rininger, accompanied by Robert Blankers; flower committee, Mrs. Mason, Schaefer and Mrs. La Don McDonough. Attendants were Lloyd Gosch, Howard McDonough, Floyd Christensen, John Watson, Malcolm Currie Charles Hogue. Final resting place, Schaller, Cemetery. Mr. Currie was a good father and very active in his church and community. In the 1920's both he and his wife were early promoters of 4-H clubs in this area. He served on both the Federal Land Bank and Farm Service board of directors. From 1950 until 1956 he worked as chairman of Sac County A.S.C. and the following year was Sac County Agent for Federal Crop Insurance. He was a charter member of Sac County Farm Bureau, a 50-year member of Acme Lodge 457, Schaller, a past member of Schaller Rotary Club and the Schaller Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
