Schlegel Amelia Louise Schlegel was born at Marquette, Nebraska on February 12, 1896. She was the daughter of Edward and Mathilda Kuhlmeier Schlegel. Her death occurred on June 13, 1977 at Aurora, Nebraska following several months of failing health, having attained the age of 81 years, 4 months and 1 day. Schlegel Amelia Louise Schlegel was born at Marquette, Nebraska on February 12, 1896. She was the daughter of Edward and Mathilda Kuhlmeier Schlegel. Her death occurred on June 13, 1977 at Aurora, Nebraska following several months of failing health, having attained the age of 81 years, 4 months and 1 day. Her entire lifetime was spent in Hamilton County. She received her education in the Pine Knot School near her parent’s home. At an early age she was baptized and confirmed in the Richland United Brethren Church near Marquette. After that church closed her membership was transferred to the United Methodist Church in Marquette. In the Richland Church she taught the little ones in the Sunday School for many years. She had a special way with the children. She also had the ability to take the lead in the home. As a gardener, she was unsurpassed. She was a favorite among her nieces and nephews. The past four years she had resided in a rest home and in the long term wing of Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Homer, Harvey and Elmer Schlegel and one infant brother and one sister, Mrs. Sadie Carlson. Those who remain to cherish her memory are three sisters, Mrs. Ida Rodabaugh of Marquette; Cora and Lydia Schlegel both of Aurora; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and many close friends.
