Description	:	Edward Julius Schlegel Edward Julius Schlegel was born March 31, 1859, in Stevenson county, Illinois, and departed this life April 12, 1924, at the age of 65 years and 12 days. He lived in Illinois until 1888 when he came to Nebraska, locating west of Marquette and later moved three miles south of Marquette where he lived until the time of his death. Mr Schlegel united in marriage with Miss Matilda Kuhlmier of Stevenson county, Illinois, in 1880. To this union were born nine children, six of whom survive their father. Read More	Edward Julius Schlegel Edward Julius Schlegel was born March 31, 1859, in Stevenson county, Illinois, and departed this life April 12, 1924, at the age of 65 years and 12 days. He lived in Illinois until 1888 when he came to Nebraska, locating west of Marquette and later moved three miles south of Marquette where he lived until the time of his death. Mr Schlegel united in marriage with Miss Matilda Kuhlmier of Stevenson county, Illinois, in 1880. To this union were born nine children, six of whom survive their father. He also leaves one brother, and three sisters, besides his aged wife. At the age of 14 Mr Schlegel became a member of the German Lutheran church, but attended the United Brethren church at Richland whenever his health permitted. In his private life, he was plain and devoid of artifice. He found his happiest hours around the family fireside, at work and among his friends. His last few years are a story of patient suffering. His simple faith in God and his fellowmen, fidelity to the things he deemed right, his loyalty to human interests are an inspiration to all who knew him. He did not live in vain; he wrought much good for our country and for the cause of our common humanity. He bore the burdens of life fearlessly and heroically to the last. Services were held at the Richland church last Wednesday, Rev W S Henry, pastor, officiating. Interment was made in the Richland cemetery.
