She dies in 1930 at the age of 85. * * * * Mrs. Henry Ripke passed away quietly Wednesday morning after fighting a losing battle against flu and pneumonia the past two weeks, She was 86 years of age, the oldest resident of Aurora at the time of her death. Wilhelmina Ehrke was born in Germany on Oct 19, 1844. She was confirmed in the Lutheran church of her birthplace when a small girl. She married Carl Ebert and with him came to America to make their home. In 1881 they moved to Independence. Mr. Ebert passed away a few months after their arrival in Independence, To this union were born eight children, four of whom preceeded their mother in death. The four remaining children were privilaged to be with her during her last illness. They are Carl of Waterloo; Mrs. Amelia Parker of Timber lake, S.D.; Herman, until recently of Canada; and Mrs. Mary Derflinger of Aurora. In 1883, Mrs Ebert was united in marriage with Henry Ripke, who preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1923. After their marriage they moved to a farm near Aurora, later moving to Aurora, where she had since resided. To this union was born one son, Albert, of Timber lake, S.D. By reason of her fourty years residence in and near Aurora, Mrs. Ripke is numbered among the pioneers in this community. In these years many friendships were made and have endured to the end. The esteme in which she was held is best evidenced by the many inquiring friends during her last illness and those who mourn her passing. Endowed with the loving qualifications of a mother, her first thought was of her home and loved ones. The cherished memory and appreciation of that home was manifest by the loving care given her by those near and dear to her. As a child in Germany she was confirmed in the church which all these years she has kept her faith. Besides her five children, she leaves to mourn her loss eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The funeral services were held from the Lutheran church in Aurora Saturday afternoon in charge of her pastor, Rev. Sandrock, with burial at Madison cemetery.
