Description	:	Amos Merle Hagedorn was born June 14, 1930, to Charles and Nettie (Allen) Hagedorn in Valentine, NE. He grew up in Cherry County and attended school in the Cherry County school district for 12 years. He enlisted in the Army in 1951. He served in the "116th Engineer Combat Battalion" in Korea for 14 months. He then returned to Valentine and married Leona Freeman on April 18, 1953. Five children were born to this union. Read More	Amos Merle Hagedorn was born June 14, 1930, to Charles and Nettie (Allen) Hagedorn in Valentine, NE. He grew up in Cherry County and attended school in the Cherry County school district for 12 years. He enlisted in the Army in 1951. He served in the "116th Engineer Combat Battalion" in Korea for 14 months. He then returned to Valentine and married Leona Freeman on April 18, 1953. Five children were born to this union. Amos was a well known painter/contractor. He pained many homes and ranches throughout Cherry County. Amos and Leona enjoyed spending time with their children. The (sic) spent many summers camping and fishing, and were very special people to their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Amos was a member of the First Baptist Church in Valentine, NE. He spent many hours helping to remodel the church. He was a deacon and served on many boards and committees. He was a life time member of the VFW. Amos was proud of his service to his country and displayed his patriotism with pride. Amos was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, (Cleo Hagedorn) and a sister (Ilene Junod). He is survived by his wife Leona of Valentine, five children: Sheila (Bert) Townley of Valentine, Sharon (Kevin) Jess of North Platte, Sheryl (Dean) Noteboom of Cody, Chuck (Julie) Hagedorn of Falls City and John Hagedorn of Valentine, fourteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters; Clem Hagedorn of Florida, Ida Rose Shelbourn of Valentine, Charlie Hagedorn of California, and Mary Blake of Colorado.
