Read More	OBITUARY The Tipton Conservative and Advertiser 4 Jan 1911 - Page: 1; Column: 6 Amos Wisener, son of John and Nancy Wisener, was born in Montgomery County, Ohio, 9 March 1835. Here he spent his early youth and later removed with his father to Darke County, Ohio, where he grew to manhood. On 11 March 1857, he was united in marriage with Miss Phoebe M. Pitsenbarger. In the fall of 1865, with his family he came to Iowa, and located at Mechanicsville but removed to Tipton some six months later where he continued to reside. When a boy he learned the carpenter trade and continued to work at it until the infirmities of age required him to cease manual labor. For over a year past he has been in feeble health, having suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never fully recovered. Some two weeks ago he had another light stroke and received an ugly fall. He seemed to improve at first, but shortly after began to sink. He knew his time was short, in fact he had expected to be called home at any time for the past year and stated so to his friends and was quietly and patiently awaiting for the Master's call. Born and reared a Quaker, he naturally leaned strongly toward that faith and though he never made an open confession or had his name on any church book, he led a consistent Christian life. He led a peaceful quite life, and having never intentionally wronged any man, he had no fears of death. His last illness was entirely painless. He remained conscious up to the day before his death, and although unable to speak, he recognized his children and smiled when they greeted him. All were at his bedside except his daughter, Mrs. F. M. Gruell of Brammerton, Washington, who was notified by telegram and arrived on Saturday. The father had lapsed into unconsciousness shortly before her arrival, however, and continued to sink slowly. He had passed the allotted three score years and ten allowed to man as a measure of life. His work was done and his vital powers were growing weak. Like the apple in the autumn, full, ripe, and ready for the breeze which causes it to let go of the parent bough, he awaited patiently the call. And it came peacefully and painlessly. On Saturday evening, 31 December, 1910, just as the clock was tolling the midnight hour, he quietly passed from earth with the old year, aged 75 years 9 months and 20 days. He leaves to mourn, his wife, one brother, Aaron Wisener, and nine children, two sons and seven daughters. These are John Wisener of Muscatine, (IA), and Ernest Wisener of Cass Township (Cedar Co. IA), Mrs. Robert Walters, Mrs. N. Harmon, Mrs. Eli Madison, and Mrs. Grace Potter of this city, Mrs., Will Wright of West Branch,(IA), Mrs. Al Clay of Cedar Rapids (IA), and Mrs. Fred Gruell of Brammerton, Washington. One daughter, Bertha was called to the life beyond in 1901. To his family he leaves as a heritage the record of a blameless life. He will not only be missed in the home and by his family, but he leaves a wide circle of friends who mourn his demise. Funeral services were held at the late home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Christie in charge, followed by interment in the family burial lot at the Masonic Cemetery. The many beautiful floral offerings served to show the esteem in which he was held.
