Read More	Source: The Victor Record 4/22/1954 DEATH COMES TO AGED MAN IN HIS SLEEP Andrew Sheridan, the son of John and Mary Sheridan, was born in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, February 27, 1866-the youngest of a family of sixteen children, and the last one to pass away. His father died when he was six years old. He came with his mother and stepfather to Iowa at the age of eleven to make their his home, and here he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Cora Belle Nace, the daughter of William and Sarah Nace. To this union three daughters were born. After their marriage they started farming three miles northwest of Victor, where they farmed till 1903, at which time they moved to Victor. "Andy," as all knew him, was a stock buyer for many years in and around Victor, and also for several miles in all directions. He brought his cattle over the country roads to the stock yards. In those days there were no trucks to haul them. Andy, with his cattle pony and shepherd dog, would be seen coming into town with a herd of cattle most any time of the day or night. All the years he was in the stock buying business he had ridden his pony 90,000 miles. He was a kind and devoted husband, a good father and a friend to everyone - very honest in all of his dealings with the public; always paying the highest prices for stock, more than anyone else. His wife passed away in October, 1917. He still made his home in Victor until the past year, at which time he stayed part time with his daughter, Mrs. Noel Coats. His health had been failing since last fall and he had been with his daughter ever since. The end came while asleep Sunday morning, April 18 at 6:35, reaching the advanced age of 88 years, 1 month and 21 days. He leaves to mourn his passing, two daughters Nan, now Mrs. Peter Bolsius of Tucson, Arizona, and Verna, now Mrs. Noel Coats of Victor; six grandchildren, also eight great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and many friends. His parents, his wife, 15 brothers and sisters, one daughter and one grandson, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held from the McAninch chapel Tuesday, April 20 at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. W. J. Fowler in charge. Two songs were sung by Hollis Fish, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset," with Mrs. George Keller at the organ. Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Ed Bushnell and Mrs. Will Henry. Casketbearers were Ed Bushnell, Rex Foster, William Stevens, Louis Michalek, Frank Michalek and Will Henry. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery by the side of his wife.
