Born in Sang Run, he was a son of the late John F. and Rachel (Friend) Friend. His wife, Anna (Day) Friend, preceded him in death. He was a member of the Sang Run Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Delbert Friend, Deer Park and Elijah Friend; and a brother, John F. Friend, McHenry.
