Andy was born on a farm southeast of Hazen in Oliver County on July 5, 1924, to George and Regina (DeWald) Sailer. He was the youngest of nine children, three brothers and five sisters. He was confirmed in the German language at Zion Lutheran Church, the spring of 1939. In 1943, Andy graduated from Beulah High School. On Sept. 8, 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served as a B-24 bomber flight engineer in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 20, 1946. On May 27, 1948, Andy married Irma Miller from Hazen. He worked for various automotive and implement dealers as an accountant, parts and service manager, and salesman. Andy prepared income taxes since 1950. The past few years he painted with his son, Randy. In the past, Andy served as church council secretary and finance committee member at Zion Lutheran Church. He was a VFW charter and lifetime member and an American Legion post commander in Beulah. Andy had a private pilot license and loved to fly. He liked reading, especially westerns, following sports, and doing crossword puzzles. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports. Andy will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was an inspiration to them all with his positive attitude and courage during his illness. Andy is survived by his wife, Irma; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Carlotta Sailer, Beulah; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lona and Robert Moos, Beulah, Peggy and Pat O'Neil, Beulah, and Kim and Bill Roach, Bismarck; five grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Gottholdt and Alvina Sailer; and four sisters, Emma Sasse, Bertha Chruszch, Freida Heihn and Gertie Younker; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hugo and Hildebert; and one sister, Lillian. ==============================
