Andrew Hofstetter, son of Agadeus (sic) and Barbara Hofstetter was born in Henry County, Illinois on Nov. 6 1859 and passed away at the home of his son, Frank, north of Lawrence, Nebraska on Nov. 30, 1955 at 1:15 p.m. at the age of 96 years and 24 days. He came to Nebraska in 1883, working for a couple of years near Beatrice. In 1885 he located on a farm a mile north of Lawrence. He was married on June 25, 1889 to Katherina Bohnart at St. Stephens Church After an active life of farming they retired to Lawrence in 1919. Mrs. Hofstetter passed away on April 26, 1943. Several years ago Mr. Hofstetter moved to the home of his son and daughter in law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hofstetter. It was their loving and ever watchful care which assisted him through the illness and infirmities common to advanced age. Mr. Hofstetter was a practical Catholic and was one of the organizers and charter members of Sacred Heart parish. Throughout his life he will be remember as a man of stability, honesty, and independence. He was hard working to provide the best for the welfare of his family. He is survived by 4 children, Mrs. Celia Reiman of Guide Rock, Nebr.; Frank Hofstetter, and Albert Hofstetter of Lawrence and Ed Hofstetter of Bushnell, Nebraska, also seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
