Description	:	Andrew Hoogestraat was born on a farm northeast of Chancellor, SD on October 11, 1915, the son of Henry F. and Minnie (DeVries) Hoogestraat. He attended rural school and grew to manhood there. On February 20, 1938 he was united in marriage to Alice Shoffelman at Germantown Parsonage, rural Chancellor. Following their marriage they farmed north of Lennox for four years and moved to their farm southwest of Chancellor in 1942 where they had since lived. Read More	Andrew Hoogestraat was born on a farm northeast of Chancellor, SD on October 11, 1915, the son of Henry F. and Minnie (DeVries) Hoogestraat. He attended rural school and grew to manhood there. On February 20, 1938 he was united in marriage to Alice Shoffelman at Germantown Parsonage, rural Chancellor. Following their marriage they farmed north of Lennox for four years and moved to their farm southwest of Chancellor in 1942 where they had since lived. His death ended a marriage partnership of over 50 years. Andrew was a member of Chancellor Reformed Church, where he had served as an Elder and Deacon. He served on the Farmers Oil Co-op Board of Directors for 30 years and served on the Chancellor School Board for several years. Following a lengthy illness Andrew died at his home southwest of Chancellor on January 19, 1989, having attained the age of 73 years, three months and eight days. Grateful for having shared hislife are his widow, Alice; one son and his wife, Larry and Diann Hoogestraat of Chancellor; one daughter and her husband, Maryan and Jack Batho, Jr. of Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren: Cherie, Jack III, Thomas and Angela Batho and Curtis and his wife Angie, Kristine, Kimberly and Kari Hoogestraat; three brothers: Dan Hoogestraat of Lennox, Myron Highstreet of Worthing, and Vernon Highstreet of Sioux Falls; three sisters: Winifred Dannen of Tea, Sophia Dannen of Colton, and Christine Foster of Garden Grove, CA.
