On Sunday evening, a small party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Humerick by their children in honor of their forty-ninth wedding anniversary, which was Monday, January 14. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Mahoney and family, Mrs. George Brown and children, Mr. and Mrs. John G. Humerick and family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sherwin, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Seiss and family." Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Humerick, Emmitsburg, observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary January 14. Celebration of the occasion was held on January 18. The 8:30 mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, of which they are members, was offered in their honor. Following mass, a breakfast for the celebrants and their eight children was served at the Green Parrott Tea Room, Emmitsburg. In the afternoon, an 'open house' was held at their home. Hosts for the affair were their children, Mrs. Catherine Washabaugh, Annandale, Virginia; Mrs. Helen Brown, Emmitsburg; Taylor Humerick, Dover, New Jersey; Mrs. Mary Sherwin and John G. Humerick, Emmitsburg; Mrs. Hilda Mahoney, Beltsville; Mrs. Marian Boyle, Emmitsburg, and Mrs. Dorothy Seiss, Thurmont. Mr. and Mrs. Humerick have 22 grandchildren. They were married January 14, 1903 at St. Anthony's Shrine Catholic Church, Emmitsburg, by the late Rev. Father Reynolds. Mr. Humerick, a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, is the son of the late George T. and Annie Jackson Humerick, Emmitsburg. Mrs. Humerick is the former Annie Catherine Taylor, daughter of the late John King Taylor and Theresa Click Taylor, also of Emmitsburg. They resided in Altoona, Pennsylvania, for 38 years, moving to Emmitsburg in October, 1940. The celebrants were presented with a three-tier wedding cake topped with two large wedding bells. House decorations included yellow rosebuds, chrysanthemums and candles. Many gifts were received. During the afternoon, approximately 100 relatives and friends called to offer congratulations. Out-of-town guests were from Washington, D. C.; Altoona, Pennsylvania; Dayton, Ohio; Thurmont and Baltimore." Obituary for Andrew Jackson Humerick from the Frederick Post of Wednesday, July 10, 1957: "Andrew Jackson Humerick, 83, retired of Emmitsburg, died at a Fairfield Nursing Home, Tuesday at 4:42 p.m. after a two year illness. The husband of Anna Taylor Humerick, he was a son of the late George and Anna Jackson Humerick. A carpenter, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and was a car repairman. Surviving are eight children: Mrs. Catherine Washabaugh, Annandale, Virginia, Mrs. Helen Brown, Emmitsburg,Taylor Humerick, Dover, New Jersey, Mrs. Mary Sherwin, Emmitsburg, John G. Humerick, Emmitsburg, Mrs. Hilda Mahoney, Beltsville, Mrs. Marian Boyle, Emmitsburg and Dorothy Seiss, Thurmont. Twenty-five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive, along with three sisters and one brother, Mrs. John Kelly, Emmitsburg, Mrs. Elizabeth Pfeifer, Baltimore, Albert Humerick, Altoona, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Jeanette Chrismer, Manchester, Maryland. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Emmitsburg and a member of the Pennsylvania Railroad Relief Association. He worked with the railroad for 39 years. Funeral services will be held Friday at the late home Friday morning at 8:30 o'clock with requiem mass at 9 a.m. in the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Rev. John Sullivan officiating. Interment will be made in the St. Anthony's Shrine Cemetery. Friends may call at the late home Thursday evening, where the rosary will be said at 8:15 p.m. S. L. Allison, funeral director." Humerick, Emmitsburg, who died Tuesday afternoon at the Wolford Bible Convalescent Home, Fountaindale, was buried this morning following a requiem mass at St. Joseph's Church, Emmitsburg. Rev. John F. Sullivan, C.M. was celebrant. Interment in St. Anthony's Cemetery, near Emmitsburg. Pallbearers were John M. Humerick, Dennis Mahoney, James Brown, Paul Humerick, Everett Chrismer and Thornton Rodgers." Andrew Jackson Humerick Reunion from the Gettysburg Times of Thursday, July 11, 1963: "Emmitsburg. The J. A. Humerick family reunion was held on Sunday at Natural Dam. Those present were Mrs. G. G. Washabaugh, Springfield, Virginia, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Humerick, Dover, New Jersey, Mrs. Robert Mahoney and family, Beltsville, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Seiss and family, Thurmont, Mrs. J. A. Humerick, Miss Jeanette Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. George Brown and son, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sherwin and family, Mr. John Humerick and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Boyle and family."
